WHERE TO START WITH MARKETING YOUR HORSE BUSINESS

Whether you’re a one-person show or you have a team that supports you, there are some basics that every horse business should have in place.

So, if you're overwhelmed by all the info you find from a quick online search then you're in the right place. I love breaking marketing down into actionable and doable steps for horse business owners.

Are you ready? Let me walk you through 4 steps to get you started. Plus, I'll share some of my favorite resources to help you get going.

STEP 1: KNOW WHO YOU SERVE

Marketing is really just talking to the right people in a way that speaks to them.

That's why your first step is to know who it is you're marketing to.

You want to be very specific about your ideal audience, so go deeper than just listing the gender or a specific industry.

List out a variety of details such as age range, lifestyle, family dynamics, professional role, problems they encounter related to what you offer, and more. As you do, you're getting clarity and laying the groundwork for your next three steps!

STEP 2: BUILD AN EMAIL LIST

Surprise! Step 2 isn't social media. (Don't worry, it's next.) So, why is building your email list Step 2?

Because your email list is your direct line of communication to the people who are most interested in your services or products. Ready to sell or open your doors or start taking clients? When you have a list of people that are engaged and trust you, then you don't have to rely solely on social media to hope they see your post and then spread the word and make those sales—you can go straight to their inbox.

By the way, you can get started building your email list even before you have a website. Most email service providers make it easy to create what's called a landing page where you can collect names and email addresses.

(In case you're wondering, I'm not saying social media doesn't matter. It does! But it shouldn't be your primary form of communication, selling, or serving.)

STEP 3: ENGAGE ON SOCIAL MEDIA

Okay, now that you have a way to invite your new friends on social media to keep up with you via email, it's time to jump in and get social.

When it comes to social media, remember that it was created as a social network. That means, you don't want to just create content and move on with your day. Instead, engage with your followers and with the people and pages that you follow to create conversations and connections.

Remember to serve more than you sell.

When you do, you'll reap the real benefits of using social media to market your horse business.

STEP 4: USE YOUR WEBSITE TO CONVERT VISITORS TO CUSTOMERS

Your website is more than just a place for people to get more info on what you do.

It's an opportunity to showcase how you can help them as well as the level of quality they can expect from you.

Every great website has 4 must-have elements that work together to turn your visitors into your customers. (When you get my free website guide I'll show you some real-life examples of how to do it!)

Believe me, your website should be beautiful. But, it should also always have your potential customer's perspective ingrained in every page. When you do that, friend, you're going to be lengths ahead of your competition!
