Welcome to the show notes! Remember, this is a brief summary from the How to Market Your Horse Business podcast. You'll want to listen to the entire episode for all the good stuff!

Hiring an equine business coach is an investment. Yes, financially, but also in your time and energy.

As a business coach myself, I believe you should ask plenty of questions before joining any coaching program. In fact, I hope you do.

Not every coach is the right fit for every entrepreneur, and the best coaching relationships are built on alignment from the very beginning.

Like my clients, I also invest in coaching to continue growing as a business owner. Before I commit to any program—whether it's group coaching or one-on-one—I always ask myself some key questions.

If you're thinking about hiring an equine business coach, these four questions will help you evaluate your options and invest with confidence.

4 Questions to Help You Choose the Right Equine Business Coach

1. Does this program solve a clear problem?

Before you invest in any coaching program, ask yourself, “What problem is this program actually designed to solve?”

And, “Is this a problem I actually have right now?”

Not every coaching program is meant to solve every business challenge, and that's exactly how it should be.

Some programs focus on leadership. Others help you improve your finances, streamline your operations, or build a team. Some are designed for entrepreneurs just getting started, while others help established business owners scale.

The mistake many entrepreneurs make is investing because a program sounds exciting, not because it addresses the challenge they're facing right now. I've been there. I love learning, but I've learned that collecting more information doesn't automatically move your business forward.

A great coaching program has a clear purpose. It should be easy to explain the problem it solves and the transformation it's designed to create.

That's exactly why I built Take the Reins. It's designed specifically for equine entrepreneurs who have a business they believe in but need a clear marketing strategy to attract more of the right clients. If you're struggling with inconsistent leads, unclear messaging, or marketing that feels scattered, that's the problem Take the Reins will help you solve.

2. Do I align with the coach's teaching style?

Every coach has a different approach.

Some lead with tough love. Others focus heavily on mindset. Some are all strategy, while others thrive on brainstorming.

None of those approaches are inherently right or wrong. The important question is whether their style helps you learn and grow.

Ask yourself, *Can I picture working with this person for the next six months?*

You don't have to agree with everything they say, but you should feel challenged in a way that moves you forward, not leaves you feeling overwhelmed or discouraged.

My coaching style is rooted in strategy, encouragement, and honest feedback. I'll challenge you when needed, but my goal is never to push you toward hustle for the sake of hustle. Instead, we'll build a sustainable business that supports both your goals and your life.

3. Does this program help me implement, not just brainstorm?

Information is everywhere. Implementation is what creates results.

One of the biggest differences between taking a course and working with a coach is having someone who helps you put ideas into action. Instead of collecting another notebook full of notes, look for a program that provides feedback, accountability, and personalized guidance.

Ask questions like:

* Will I receive feedback on my work?

* Can I ask questions when I get stuck?

* Is the coaching customized to my business?

* Will I leave each session with a clear next step?

That's one of the reasons Take the Reins is a one-on-one coaching program. Your business is unique, and your marketing strategy should be too. Together, we build and implement a plan that fits your goals, your audience, and your business.

4. Is there a proven roadmap?

Are you looking for a coach who wants you to bring new questions and problems to conquer each week? Or, are you look for a framework that guides your progress while leaving room to customize the experience to your business?

There’s not a right or wrong answer, but not knowing before you make a buying decision could lead to disappointed as you get into the program.

Business growth isn't random. Each stage builds on the one before it, and skipping foundational work often creates bigger challenges later.

That's why I created the Saddle Up & Go Framework to guide your time inside Take the Reins. It gives our coaching calls structure and direction so we always know what we're working toward. Beyond that framework, we strengthen the foundational pillars of your business through my FARM Framework, ensuring your messaging, marketing, sales systems, and business managment work together to support sustainable growth.

Instead of chasing the next marketing trend, we focus on building a business that continues generating results long after our coaching ends.
