Welcome to the show notes! Remember, this is a brief summary from the How to Market Your Horse Business podcast. You'll want to listen to the entire episode for all the good stuff!

How do you feel about entering Q3 for your equine business?

Whether it feels exciting or overwhelming, this is the perfect time to take a step back, reflect, and reset your focus.

Now, I know summer looks different depending on what part of the horse industry you’re in.

Maybe you’re in the thick of show season or spending every weekend on the road.

Maybe you're running vendor booths at expos and clinics.

Maybe you’re preparing for the fall shopping season or finally getting consistent weather to enjoy riding outdoors again.

No matter what your summer looks like, here’s your friendly nudge: make time to pause.

Because right now is the perfect opportunity to check in with your business, your goals, and yes—your marketing.

This isn’t just about reviewing goals and checking boxes. It’s about you as an equestrian entrepreneur and taking intentional steps to realign your marketing with where you actually want your business to go.

So if you’re ready to reset and move forward with more clarity and confidence, here are 4 powerful steps to a mid-year marketing reset that will get your horse business back on track.

4 Steps to Realign and Refocus Your Horse Business

1. Celebrate Your Wins

Let’s be honest—this is the step we often skip. We’re so focused on what’s next that we forget to look back and acknowledge how far we’ve come.

But celebrating wins matters. And I don’t just mean the big wins like a website launch or a sold-out clinic. I’m talking about all of it—the small, quiet progress that adds up over time.

Maybe you finally started email marketing.

Maybe you said no to a client who wasn’t a fit.

Maybe you’ve just shown up more consistently in your business than ever before.

Take a few minutes to write down what you’re proud of since January 1.

Ask yourself:

  • What progress have I made?

  • What feels easier now than it did six months ago?

  • Where have I grown?

This mindset shift comes from The Gap and The Gain by Dan Sullivan—a great read if you haven’t picked it up yet. It reminds us to measure our progress by how far we’ve come, not how far we still have to go.

And when you focus on the gains, you’re more energized to keep moving forward.

2. Reconnect with Your Goals (and Your Why)

Once you’ve looked back, it’s time to look ahead—but not just at your to-do list. First, reconnect with your why.

Ask yourself:

  • What’s the long-term vision I have for my horse business?

  • Why did I start this in the first place?

  • What kind of life and business am I working toward?

Then, check in with the goals you set at the beginning of the year:

  • Do they still make sense?

  • Are they helping you move closer to that big-picture vision?

  • Do any need to be adjusted based on how the year has unfolded so far?

Maybe your focus has shifted. Maybe your schedule or family life looks different. That’s okay.

Give yourself permission to adjust your goals based on what’s actually realistic—and aligned—for this season.

The key here isn’t to stay rigid. It’s to stay aligned with what matters most to you.

3. Set Your Intention for the Second Half of the Year

Let’s fast forward to December 31. You and I are sitting down over coffee, reflecting on the year. What do you want to be celebrating?

This isn’t just about revenue goals or marketing metrics—it’s also about how you want to feel when you cross the finish line of 2025.

Ask yourself:

  • What would a successful second half of the year look like for me?

  • What wins would I be proud to celebrate?

  • How do I want to feel in my business—confident, clear, calm, energized?

And just as important:

  • What’s been holding me back that I’m ready to release?

Maybe it’s perfectionism, comparison, overwhelm, or fear of visibility. Identify it and decide to let it go.

You might even choose a word or short phrase to guide you through the rest of the year—something like “consistent,” “bold,” “focused,” or “intentional.”

Let that be your compass.

4. Make a Focused Plan

Now, it’s time to turn clarity into action—because inspiration without a plan won’t move the needle.

Start with these questions:

  • What are 1–3 key marketing goals I want to focus on between now and the end of the year?

(Think: grow my email list, refresh my website, book more discovery calls, deep-dive my audience through coffee chats.)

  • What’s ONE small action I can take each week to move closer to each goal?

  • How can I schedule these actions into my calendar?

Don’t underestimate the power of small, consistent steps. You don’t need to overhaul everything—you just need a plan that works for you.

And remember: what gets scheduled and measured gets done.

It could be:

  • Sending a weekly email

  • Creating a specific number of value-packed social media posts each week

  • Booking 15 minutes each Monday to review your marketing metrics

Also, decide how you’ll measure progress:

  • Email subscribers?

  • Website traffic?

  • Inquiries or bookings?

  • Content published?

Tracking your results gives you real-time feedback—and helps you celebrate more wins down the road.

Important reminder ...

You don’t have to hustle your way through the second half of the year.

You don’t have to do more.

You just have to do the right things—with clarity, intention, and consistency.
