Welcome to the show notes! Remember, this is a brief summary from the How to Market Your Horse Business podcast. You'll want to listen to the entire episode for all the good stuff!

How do you hold feeling unsettled by what’s happening in the world around you while also trying to run a business, care for your family, and show up in the barn like normal?

Recently, inside my small group coaching program, The Business Barn Collective, one of my coaching clients shared how hard it was to focus on her business project because of what was happening in Minnesota.

And it hit me: so many of us are walking around trying to “do business as usual” at times when nothing feels usual.

Now, this podcast isn’t about news or politics. There are plenty of places to go for that.

But this is about you, the equine entrepreneur who’s trying to show up for your business, serve your clients, maybe care for your family, all while carrying the weight of what’s happening in the world.

Because even though you're focused on horses, you're not living in a silo.

Whether it’s something close to home, a crisis across the globe, or just the constant hum of unsettling headlines… the reality is, we’re all impacted. And trying to pretend like we’re not doesn’t help us move forward. It just builds tension under the surface.

So, what do you do when you’re feeling the weight of it all?

Here’s a simple process that I hope will help you stay grounded in your horse business today.

5 Practical Steps to Stay Grounded in Your Horse Business When the World Feels Heavy

1. Take a Breath

Literally. Get oxygen to your brain.

Go for a walk. Groom your horse. Put on a guided breathing video.

Let your body catch up with your brain, and vice versa.

God designed our bodies to need that pause. Slowing down is not weakness, it’s wisdom.

2. Check In With Yourself

Once you’ve created space to think, ask:

What’s really going on here?

What event or situation is stirring something in me?

What am I actually feeling?

Name it. Not so you can dwell there, but so you can understand what you’re carrying. You can’t release what you haven’t recognized.

3. Return to Your Filter

What’s your why?

What are the core values that guide how you do business?

When things feel chaotic, returning to your personal and professional foundation helps quiet the noise.

That clarity gives your next step purpose.

4. Get Support

Sometimes clarity doesn’t come on your own. That’s where community makes a difference.

Phone a trusted friend. Open up to a mentor.

This is exactly why I created The Business Barn Collective. Because growing a business is hard enough without trying to do it in isolation.

You don’t need a massive support system. You just need the right people in your corner.

5. Get Going, One Step at a Time

You don’t have to have the whole plan figured out.

Ask yourself, "What’s the next right thing I can do today?"

It might be writing a caption. Sending an email. Checking on a client.

Choose something that feels aligned with your goals, not just busywork.

Progress doesn’t always look like productivity.

Sometimes, just showing up is a win.

This isn’t about ignoring the hard things.

This is about being honest with yourself, giving yourself space to feel, and then making intentional choices about how you move forward.

That's how you grow an equine business with clarity, confidence, and purpose.
