Welcome to the show notes! Remember, this is a brief summary from the How to Market Your Horse Business podcast. You'll want to listen to the entire episode for all the good stuff!

In the world of marketing, a potential customer or client that joins your email list is called a lead. They aren't a customer yet—they're a potential customer who took a step and gave you their contact info.

So, that’s why we call freebies lead magnets in the world of marketing. Your freebie is what causes them to sign up for your emails and that is what gets the ball rolling for you to build your know, like, and trust factor and eventually they buy.

So, let's say you’re on board with collecting email addresses and using email marketing to build relationships and build the horse business of your dreams.

Now the question becomes, how do you come up with a great freebie that your best-fit customer is going to want?

Considering the questions you get asked most often is a great place to start.

Look at your student conversations, your Facebook or Instagram messages and comments, or the Q&A time you host at clinics.

Make a list of the most common questions. Now, you know what people are wanting to know and how it aligns with the services or products you’re selling.

The way you take those questions and create a freebie can be presented in a few different forms, which is what this episode is going to help with.

The most common way to do it is a downloadable PDF but I’m going to share one idea that’s a little different than that, too.

Here are 4 proven ideas to create an opt-in freebie that will build your email list:

  1. Checklist Example: My website checklist 4 Must-Haves to Make Your Equine Website Dreams A Reality

  2. Guide Example: Colton Woods Horsemanship Guide to Be a Leader Worth Following

  3. How-to Example: American Quarter Horse Association How to Spot the Signs of Colic

  4. Audio/Video Example: Hayes Cofell Performance Horses Trot Exercise Video Lesson

Of course, you'll want to listen to the full episode to dig into how you can apply each of these ideas to create a valuable freebie for your own business!
