How to Build the Business You Want from the Start With Emily Urban

Whether your horse business is in its infancy or you’re a seasoned pro who has been at it for years, there’s something beautiful about being a business owner. You get to decide what your business will look like. That means you get to build a business you love!

Welcome to the show notes! Remember, this is a brief summary from the How to Market Your Horse Business podcast. You'll want to listen to the entire episode for all the good stuff!

So, what does it look like to build a business you love?

If you’re at a point where you realize you don’t love your business, is there anything you can do to change it? Or, are you stuck with it?

Friend, you’re in the driver’s seat of your business. Sure, there are some things that may be outside of your control, but by and large, you get to decide what kind of horse business you want to have, how it’ll work with your personal life, and what success looks like to you.

Because I don’t know about you, but building a business that you genuinely love and enjoy sounds like one great measure of success to me.

And, that’s what my guest this week wants to help you do. Emily Urban with The Rising Equestrian Pro is a seasoned equestrian professional who is now sharing what she’s learned building her business with her fellow equestrians who want to “go pro.”

While you’ll typically find her equipping equestrians who are just starting out as professionals, I asked her to share with you some things that EVERY horse business owner should keep in mind as you build your business.

4 Ways You Can Build the Horse Business You Want From the Start

  1. Define the career YOU want!

  2. Build your network. (Focus on building bridges rather than being in seclusion.)

  3. Define your ideal timeline. Do you want to pursue additional experiences and credentials, work for a person/business you admire, or even build your non-equine career?

  4. Get your business logistics in order. From bookkeeping to legal structures or a marketing plan, identify experts to help you.

Of course, you'll want to listen to the full episode to dig into each of these strategies and tips and discover how you can use each one in your horse business!
